Barry White, 58, dies of kidney failure
Grammy award winning soul singer Barry White has died of kidney failure. He was 58.
The soul legend, known for his rich bass vocals, suffered a stroke in May and had been awaiting a kidney transplant.
White is best known for romantic hits such as "Can't Get Enough of Your Love" and "You're The First, The Last, My Everything."
His career faded with the end of the disco era in the 1980s.
But he managed a comeback, and won two awards at the 2000 Grammies for his album "Staying Power."
In all, he sold more than 100 million discs.
The musical love legend earned himself pop icon status with television appearances on The Simpsons and Ally McBeal in recent years
