People in the UK may of seen on the BBC Watchdog program about the growth of an Internet scam that has caught hundreds of people out and costing some thousands of pounds.
Its not new this has been working on the net for years but is expanding very quick now. Its the Dialers that people download as they have been told to do by a web site message not knowing what it is. just lately some sites download these with out people knowing.
The first time you will know you have been infected is when you get your phone bill.. and you find out that you have been dialing not your ISP but a premium rate phone number most of the time its £1 a min..
Fact this is happening as the hundreds of people on the Watchdog program proved. If you have been to a web site and found you were disconnected and reconnected i would check your dial up settings and check the phone number that's in there. Make sure it is your ISP dial up number.
This is NOT just a problem in the UK its happening world wide, i have only found one program that says can stop your dial up settings being changed. I am testing it now.
You can check the phone number your connected to now by
right clicking the 2 computers icon by the clock and click "status"
then click the "Properties" button and check the phone number.
